Publication of submitted participant details on the following webpage: https://www.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/lem/personslist/lem_personslist.html. This webpage (the ‘Personenverzeichnis’) is in a non-indexed, password-protected area of the following website: https://www.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/lem/. Passwords are encrypted for additional security.
Details to be gathered include:
Name, surname, titles, preferred pronouns, affiliation, department/seminar, email address, URLs to websites (including your faculty or other public-facing web pages), and your research interests.
Optional publication of submitted course titles, course dates, and name on the shared course index (‘Gesamtkursverzeichnis’) at the following webpage: https://www.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/lem/personslist/lem_personslist.html. Internal management and storage of submitted course title, course date, and name data on the Gesamtkursverzeichnis by the webmaster and his or her assigns.

4. Purposes and legal basis of processing
a) Your data will be collected to register as a participant in the LEM webring, and to allow us to collect the required data for the Personenverzeichnis, Gesamtkursverzeichnis, and Lehrordner functionalities on the LEM. We will process your data to plan, design, manage, and code the LEM webring project, including the Personenverzeichnis, the Gesamtkursverzeichnis, and the Lehrordner tools. The personal data collected in the registration process via the above-named online forms also serves to prevent the misuse of the registration form and shared course index, and to ensure the security of our information technology systems. We furthermore process the data of all LEM participants
b) The legal basis of processing is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. e, Abs. 2, 3 GDPR.
5. Recipients or categories of recipients of personal data
If you register as a participant in the LEM webring, your personal data will be shared only with the webmaster and his or her team as well as third parties at the RUB which are involved in data hosting (e.g., IT services).
If you register as a participant in the LEM webring, your data (submitted personal data on the Personenverzeichnis, submitted course details for the Gesamtkursverzeichnis, submitted materials in your Lehrordner) will be available to visitors of the following webpage: https://www.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/lem/personslist/lem_personslist.html. This webpage (the ‘Personenverzeichnis’) is in a non-indexed, password-protected area of the following website: https://www.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/lem/. Passwords are encrypted for additional security.
6. Period of storage of personal data
Data will only be stored by us as long as this is required in compliance with the statutory retention periods for fulfilment of the respective task; your data will be stored no later than ten years (i.e. until the end of 2035).
7. Your rights in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
You are entitled to the following rights in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation
(GDPR):
Information: You can request information about whether and, where applicable, what personal data we will process from you, and receive other information connected with processing (Art. 15 GDPR). Please consider that this right to information can be limited or excluded in specific cases (cf. Art. 10 of the Bavarian Data Protection Act in particular).
Rectification: If incorrect personal data is processed, you have a right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR).
Erasure / Restriction of processing: If the statutory requirements are met, you can request the erasure of your personal data or the restriction of their processing (Art. 17 and 18 GDPR). However, the right to erasure in accordance with Art. 17 (1) and (2) GDPR does not apply if, among other things, the processing of personal data is required to perform a task that is in the public interest or involves the exercising of official authority (Art. 17 (3) (b) GDPR) or statutory retention obligations exist.
Data portability: You have the right to receive data provided by you in a standardized electronic format or to have it transferred to an entity indicated by you if the data processing is based on consent or a contract and processing is done by automated means (Art. 20 GDPR).
Objection: If the processing is carried out for the performance of a public task (Art. 6 (1) (e) GDPR), you have the right to object to the processing of your data at any time if you have reasons for doing so that arise from your particular situation (Art. 21 (1) (1) GDPR).
If you exercise your rights, we will check whether the statutory requirements have been met for this. Other restrictions, modifications and, where applicable, exclusions of the aforesaid rights may arise on account of the General Data Protection Regulation or national legal provisions.
Withdrawal of consent: If you have given consent to processing by means of a corresponding declaration, you can withdraw consent at any time for the future. The legality of the data processing handled on the basis of consent until withdrawal is not affected by withdrawal. Please remember that processing may also continue after the withdrawal of consent under circumstances where RUB must fulfill legal obligations.
Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint about the processing of your personal data to a supervisory authority within the meaning of Art. 51 GDPR. 8. No obligation to provide data
We need your data for your registration as a speaker or participant of the webring project Lehrgruppe Englisches Mittelalter (LEM). The provision of your personal data is voluntary. However, if you do not provide the required data, you will not be given access to the LEM, and you will not appear on any part of the website.
